Hobby clubs are open to boys and girls in grades 5-12 who are members of the Brigade! They meet in addition to regular Building Leaders program nights. Regular attendance is expected if you choose to join a hobby club.
Online hobby club registration is open for the 2019-20 Building Leaders program year. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Brigaders may sign up the first night of the club if space is still available.
Non-Brigaders may be eligible to join hobby clubs starting October 14 if there are spots available. Fees for non-Brigaders are double the Brigader fee.
If Brigade is cancelled due to weather, hobby clubs will also be cancelled.
2019-20 Hobby Clubs
Brigader Fee: $15
Open to all skill levels. You can expect normal target archery with a few new wrinkles added every week. Try a 3D target or a different shooting position and learn maintenance and repair tips and practices. Hone your technique whether you are a beginner or advanced archer. Limited to 20 participants.
Meets from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on the following Wednesdays in the archery range: Oct. 9, 16, 23, 30; Nov. 20; No dates in December due to Christmas Giving Program. Jan. 8, 15, 22, 29; Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26; March 4, 11.
Brigader Fee: $20
Learn to clean, glaze, paint and fire Greenware. Participants will need to purchase some paint brushes and supplies. Parents of Brigaders are also welcome. Limited to 12 participants.
Meets from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the 3rd floor ceramics room on the following Wednesdays: Oct. 9, 16, 23, 30; Nov. 6, 13, 20; Dec. 4, 11; Jan. 8, 15, 22, 29; Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26; March 4, 11, 18.
Brigader Fee: $15 for six months
The climbing club focuses on safe climbing, climbing techniques & having fun. All participants must have a release form signed by parent/guardian on file. Parents and guests welcome! Participants younger than 5th grade are welcome, but must be accompanied by a parent. Limited to 12 new climbers and an unlimited number of returning climbers are welcome.
Please note: This is a popular club with limited space. Members who are not actively participating by climbing and/or belaying when present will be asked to leave the club to free up a spot for a child on the waiting list.

Brigader Fee: $25
Do you like to eat great food but don't know how to make it or even where to start? Learn proper food preparation, sanitation, and cooking techniques in a fun environment. Participants will be provided with an apron which must be washed between each meeting. Participants are responsible for bringing a hat to restrain their hair. Limited to 10 participants per session; Brigaders may only participate in one session.
Safety kitchen practices must be followed at all times. Anyone who is behaving in an unsafe manner will be warned once, and if the action persists, they will be removed from the club.

Cre-8 Lab Mission (STEAM CluB)
Brigader Fee $25
Come to the Brigade Idea Lab! This year's program revolves around Green Energy. Creative youth will work with leaders to design new systems to capture energy from the world around them. Using recycled materials and unique designs, we will work to power household items using Green energy! Limited to 20 participants in grades 6 and up.

DRILL & DRUM CORPS
Serve as the official Honor Guard of the Brigade, performing at important events including Awards Programs and the Memorial Day Parade on May 27. All sections learn and refine marching skills, and the drum section will also learn drum cadence for presentation and parade. More details about meeting dates and times will be available in January.
Meets at the Brigade - Neenah from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning in January: (Sign-up opens in January)
Brigader Fee $15
Karate is good exercise, it’s fun, it enhances your confidence, teaches you methods to defend yourself, develops patience, and more! Kids will have the opportunity to test and earn belts. Participants should plan on attending at least one day per week. Taught by ATKI Certified Black Belt Instructor Pat Claggett who has 20 years of experience in the martial arts.
Meets on Mondays from 5-6:15p.m., Wednesdays from 5-6:30p.m., and Saturdays from 10a.m.-12p.m. year-round.
MODEL RAILROAD CLUB
Brigader Fee: $10
Help design and build the HO scale model railroad layout. Lay track, create scenery, construct models and operate trains.

Learn and develop your shooting skills. Taught by NRA qualified instructors. Limited to 12 participants per session. Brigaders may attend one of the two sessions.

Trip schedule & rates for lift tickets and rentals available in late November
The Ski Club schedules four evening trips to Nordic Mountain in Mt. Morris, Wisconsin. Participants will need their own equipment or will need to rent equipment, which Brigade facilitates at a discounted group rate. Trips are chaperoned by experienced Brigade volunteers who are capable skiers and snowboarders willing to share their expertise. Professional instruction is also available.

Small Engine Repair Club
Brigader Fee: $10
Open to 7th graders and above. Learn repair and maintenance of internal combustion engines such as lawn mowers, snow blowers, go-carts and small outboards. Limited to 10 participants.
Meets from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on the following Mondays in the basement engine mechanics room: Oct. 7, 14, 21, 18; Nov. 4, 11, 18; Dec. 2, 9; Jan. 6, 13, 20, 27; Feb. 3, 10, 17, 24; March 2, 9, 16.

Interested in learning to weld? Already welded a few times and would like to enhance your skills? Learn to weld with some of the finest welding equipment in the industry (using Miller Electric Equipment). We will learn the basics welding principles, progress to stick welding and then move on to MIG (wire) welding. If time permits, we'll get to TIG welding. Limited to 8 participants per session.
