2017 Winter weekends at onaway
Beat the winter blues with a trip to Onaway in 2017! All winter weekends share common activities that can only be enjoyed during Wisconsin winters including ice fishing, ice bowling, broomball, skating, snowshoeing, sledding, cross-country skiing, and fort building. Onaway Island provides comfortable accommodations in the year-round facilities of Headquarters and the Mess Hall. Don’t miss the chance to see Onaway in all its wintertime splendor. Stop by the Brigade to pick up a registration form or download one by clicking the link below.
10th Grade Winter Weekend – Reserved for Brigaders in 10th grade. In addition to all the regular winter activities, we stage the Wintertime Cross-Country Race, have a bonfire on the ice, and…a number of other activities that we won’t tell you about until you get there. There’ll even be an opportunity for those who dare to experience the dreaded Chain o’ Lakes Birkebeiner! Bus leaves Brigade at 6pm Friday and returns at 12pm Sunday.
Girls’ Weekend – Three-day winter weekend designed specifically for girls and a parent. Moms, an older sister or other mentor, or dads are welcome to come along. Get away from town for the weekend and spend it at camp. There’s a ton of fun to be had on the ice and on the island; games, activities, and lots of great food that you help make! Minimum of ten girl/parent pairs must register or camp will open to families. Leaders and willing mentors will provide transportation. Leave Brigade Friday at 6pm and return Sunday at 12pm.
Winter Family Weekend – Three-day winter Onaway experience geared toward family participation. Bring a parent or your whole family and get away from town for a few days in the middle of the long Wisconsin winter! All ages can participate in a nice balance of planned activities, events, and free time. Space is limited and weekend fills quickly so don’t delay – register today! Families will need their own transportation to Onaway.
Boys' Weekend (CANCELLED DUE TO POOR ICE CONDITIONS) – Three-day winter weekend designed specifically for boys. Dads (or an older brother or other mentor) are welcome to come along. Get away from town for the weekend and spend it with the “guys” at camp. There’s a ton of fun to be had on the ice and on the island; games, activities, and lots of great food that you help make! Space is limited, so sign up right away! Leaders and willing mentors will provide transportation. Leave Brigade Friday at 6pm and return Sunday at 12pm.
Co-Leader Winter Weekend – Reserved for Brigaders in 11th & 12th grades and an opportunity for our co-leaders to hang out and enjoy the island in a less structured way. Participants for this weekend are required to ride the bus. Bus leaves Brigade at 6pm Friday and returns at 12pm Sunday.
