Boys’ & Girls’ Brigade Hobby Clubs 2007-2008
Hobby clubs are open to all boys and girls who are members of the Boys’ & Girls’ Brigade! They meet in addition to your regular Brigade nights. Regular attendance is required if you choose to attend a hobby club. The hobby clubs begin the week of October 8, 2007. There is no pre-registration for clubs. Registrations are taken at the first club meeting. Fees must be paid at the time you sign up. As in all Brigade activities, if the fee is a hardship, please contact the Brigade office at 725-3983.
Archery Club - Fee $10.00
Meet on Thursdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. beginning October 11th in the lower gym archery range. Open to all Brigaders. Will learn correct techniques in shooting and the proper use and maintenance of equipment. Limited to 12 participants
NASP Archery Club - Fee $10.00
Meet on Mondays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. beginning October 8th. The focus of the club will be based on NASP program (www.nasparchery.com). Club members will learn shooting skills, arrow construction and repair and bow maintenance along with other archery skills. Extra cost may be incurred if members want to build their own set of arrows.
Ceramics Club - Fee $10.00
Meet on Wednesdays beginning October 10th from 7-9 p.m. in the 3rd floor ceramics room. Open to 6th graders and above; parents also welcome. Learn to clean, glaze, paint and fire “greenware”. Participants will need to purchase some paint brushes and supplies. Limited to 12 participants.
Crochete & Knitting Club - Fee $5.00
Meet on Mondays beginning October 8th from 7-9 p.m. Open to grades 7-12. Make scarves, hats and afghans.
Downhill Ski & Snowboard Club - Fee $5.00 (Plus other ski-related expenses)
An informational meeting for all interested Brigaders will be held on Friday, November 2 at 5:30 p.m. Parents are welcome to attend.
Handicraft Club - Fee $10.00
Meet on Tuesdays beginning October 9th from 7-8:30 p.m. Open to all Brigaders. Crafts of all kinds! Some projects may require an extra fee.
Model Railroad Club - Fee $10.00
Meet on Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. beginning on October 9th. Help design and build the HO scale model railroad layout. Lay track, create scenery, construct models and operate trains. Open to all Brigaders.
Rifle Club (Beginners and Advanced) - Fee $15.00 for ammunition, targets and use of rifles.
Meet on Wednesdays beginning October 10th from 7-8 p.m. Meet in the basement rifle range. Learn and further develop your shooting skills. Taught by N.R.A. qualified instructors. Open to boys and girls in 6th grade and above. Limited to 12 participants.
Rifle Club (Intermediate to Advanced) - Fee $15.00 for ammunition, targets and use of rifles.
Meet Tuesdays beginning October 9th from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the basement rifle range. Open to boys and girls with at least one year of Rifle Club experience.
Discover SCUBA Hobby Club -Welcome to Discover Scuba. Be prepared to view the world from underwater, it's a whole new world down there. We have certified instructors with a instructor to student ratio never more than 1:8. The maximum class size is 24 students and the minimum class size is 10 students. we will also have adult Brigade volunteers who are divers themselves helping out in the pool. The Boys' & Girls' Brigade, Mountain Bay Scuba and the Neenah-Menasha YMCA invite you to participate in this exciting new hobby club through the Brigade.
There are four sessions being offered and individual pricing for each session. you must pre-register at the Boys' & Girls' Brigade main office for the session(s) you would like to participate in. Upon registration you will receive an appointment card that has the dates checked off, please bring the appointment card to the YMCA with you, where it will be punched to mark your attendance. When you register you must also complete a release of liability form from Mountain Bay Scuba and a medical release form from the Brigade. there are no refunds if you miss a session.

Small Engine Repair - Fee $5.00
Meet Mondays beginning October 8th from 7-9 p.m. in the basement engine mechanics room. Limited to 8th graders and above. Learn repair and maintenance of internal combustion engines such as lawn mowers, snow blowers, go-carts and small outboards. Limited to 5 participants.
Welding Club - Fee $10.00
Meet on Saturday mornings from 9:30-12 noon. Youth learn the art of welding, both tig and mig. The welding club will do group projects but also offer the youth a chance to work on personal projects. |
