BOYS’ & GIRLS’ BRIGADE RECONIZES YOUTH ACHIEVEMENTS
NEENAH, WI – The Boys’ & Girls’ Brigade held its annual awards program at Bridgewood Conference Center in Neenah on March 30, 2008. The event recognized 11th and 12th grade youth for their achievements and success in the Brigade.
Seven-Year Four-Fold Award
This award is presented to 12th grade youth who consistently reflected mental, physical, social, and spiritual balance in their lives during their seven years in the Brigade: Steven Babbitts, Alexander Drake, Ellen Heyn, Courtney Holcomb, Lori Jilek, Becca Littlefield, and Kurt Stadler.
Seven-Year Perfect Attendance Award
This award is presented to 12th grade youth who attended all seven years of the Brigade program without any absences: Steven Babbitts, Alexander Drake, Nancy Jahnke, Becca Littlefield, and Kurt Stadler.
Wide Awake Award
This award is presented to 11th and 12th grade youth demonstrating exemplary performance during the current Brigade year. Each of these award winners received a full scholarship to attend Brigade’s 2008 Leadership Training Conference (LTC) at Camp Onaway: Patrick DuBois, Christine Jilek (11th grade); Eric Koester and Lori Jilek (12th grade).
Sure & Steadfast Award
This award is presented to Brigaders for their total commitment to Brigade as reflected in their constant service and availability to Brigade programs: Steven Babbitts, Becca Littlefield, and Jess Retzlaff.
Outstanding Brigader Award
The highest award a Brigader can receive. This award is based upon all-around participation and performance during a youth’s entire Brigade career: Kurt Stadler and Becca Littlefield.
John Dery, executive director of the Boys’ & Girls’ Brigade, commented, “Both the staff and adult volunteer leaders are very proud of the young men and women that received these awards. It is a joy to see all of the 11th and 12th grade Brigaders mature into outstanding young leaders. We are honored to have served them over the past seven years and we wish them continued success in their futures.”
The Brigade mission is: We Build Leaders. Character development and leadership programs are offered for sixth through twelfth grade youth at the Brigade building located at 109 W. Columbian Avenue in Neenah, Wisconsin. Summer camp experiences are offered at Onaway Island in Waupaca, Wisconsin. Youth are served by hundreds of adult volunteer leaders.
